150 Words About . . .INSIDE (2007)
By James Newman
An exercise in pure tension straight outta the nation that gave America the Statue of Liberty, Inside demands something in return. It’ll have you gnawing at your fingernails even if you’ve never been a slave to that nasty habit (like yours truly).
On the night before a young widow is scheduled for induced labor, her home is invaded by a woman who wants something . . . inside.
As you probably guessed, the intruder doesn’t want anything of material value.
She wants the baby.
Inside is one of the bloodiest, most nerve-wracking horror films ever made. Like birth itself, it’s ugly and messy and in the end there’s viscera splattered everywhere. But it’s not all about the gore. This is suspense at its most masterful. And Inside’s scissor-wielding La Femme (played by Trouble Every Day’s Beatrice Dalle) is the most terrifying cinematic villain since Michael Myers in the original Halloween.
